Bunny Instant

: Evidence suggests the term stems from the old English word "bun," which was historically used to describe a squirrel or a rabbit.

Limit plain, timothy-based pellets to a few tablespoons per day based on weight. Avoid pellet mixes that contain colourful seeds, corn, or nuts; these are junk foods that disrupt gut flora.

This is the fact that surprises most new bunny owners. Bunnies practice cecophagy . They produce two types of fecal pellets: the hard, dry ones you see in a litter box, and soft, mucus-covered ones called cecotropes . Bunnies eat the cecotropes directly from their anus. This might sound gross, but it is essential. It allows them to absorb nutrients (like B vitamins) that were produced by bacteria in their hindgut during the first pass of digestion.

Ensure the bunny’s tail faces away from you to prevent injury during handling. : Evidence suggests the term stems from the

The "bunny" is a highly adaptable and resilient mammal. While viewed as a pest in agricultural contexts and an invasive threat in non-native ecosystems, it remains a vital part of the food web in its native habitat and a source of companionship for humans. Effective management of wild populations and responsible care for domestic breeds are essential to balancing their ecological impact.

: To extract maximum nutrients, rabbits consume special droppings called cecotropes The "Binky"

In rare instances, a female can conceive a second litter while still pregnant with the first. This is the fact that surprises most new bunny owners

By the 1800s, the "fancy" rabbit breeding craze hit Victorian England, turning these utility animals into the beloved pets and show animals we see today. Almost every domestic pet bunny you see is a descendant of those European wild rabbits.

Through selective breeding, humans have diversified the European rabbit into a vast array of domestic breeds, categorized by size, fur type, and ear structure.

The bunny is a paradox. It is simultaneously the world’s most fragile prey animal and a symbol of fertility, trickery, and resilience. Whether you are captivated by the wild hare darting through a field, the majestic thump of a Flemish Giant, or the quiet purr of a rescue bunny sleeping on your lap, one thing is clear: there is nothing "simple" about this animal. Bunnies eat the cecotropes directly from their anus

Many families bring bunnies home because they are quiet and adorable, but they are a high-commitment animal. Domestic rabbits can live between , requiring specialized care and regular vet visits.

Rabbits love to chew wood. Protect baseboards with plastic guards or independent fencing, and wrap wooden furniture legs.

: When a rabbit is exceptionally happy or playful, it may perform a "binky"—a high leap in the air accompanied by twists and kicks.

Medium-to-large rabbits like the New Zealand and the Californian were originally bred for meat and fur but are increasingly kept as gentle, calm household pets.
